HOMElink celebrates 2nd Anniversary with a Tea dance

HOMElink celebrated their 2nd anniversary with a party for members and friends at the Esplanade Hotel, Strand Road, Bray on the 20th May 2010.

HOMElink has been making a difference to the lives of older people in Wicklow and south Dublin now for 2 years. They have grown from 3 members in May 2008 to now over 460 members, which is testament to the need that is out there in our community for these services.

HOMElink provides a phone support line and a small repairs and basic maintenance service for older people.

Members receive a daily phone call at a pre-arranged time which consists of a friendly chat and also reminds them of any upcoming appointments. If after a number of attempts the phone is not answered, HOMElink will get in touch with an emergency contact person and if necessary, contact the Gardai.

The service also keeps members in touch with community activities and members are invited to HOMElink social events. As part of its social events HOMElink holds tea dances twice a year.

The Anniversary party on Thursday was held at the Esplanade Hotel and more than 100 members came for the fun, music and dancing. The raffle on the day brought great excitement with prizes donated from The Beach House, The Royal Marine Hotel and Time Granted.
"It was a lovely day and great time was had by all. We had music from Ray Cranley and there was plenty of dancing, clapping and foot-tapping!" says Anne General Manager of HOMElink.

HOMElink also provides a small repairs and basic maintenance service.

"Sometimes older people can find it hard to find reliable and trustworthy people to do their maintenance work. Our skilled handy men are in a great demand doing projects from cutting grass to fixing a security light." says Anne.

HOMElink is partly funded by the Community Services Programme and through Bray partnership. This year HOMElink needs to raise €20,000 to continue their vital services and much fundraising is happening throughout the year.

I really appreciate the way you showed your respect and care to the elderly people .

This is what the elderly care firm should do because at this age these people need love, care and the respect from the people who are taking care of them.
